getting here and eating out ¤¤¤¤ ANREISE UND DRAUSSEN GRILLEN

MOST PEOPLE COME TO US BY FERRY, EITHER FROM THE NORTH (SWEDEN) OR FROM THE SOUTH (DENMARK). BUT MORE ABOUT THAT LATER...

SUMMEREVENINGS AND BARBECUES ARE TWO THINGS THAT GO WELL TOGETHER...

Sommerabende und grillen passen gut zusammen...

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT AREAS IN OUR GARDEN WHERE ONE CAN EAT OUTSIDE...

WE USUALLY TAKE THE FERRY TO GERMANY AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH TO DO SHOPPING...

Enjoying the sunshine on deck....

DIE SONNE AN DECK GENIESSEN....

ANOTHER FERRY CROSSING THE STRETCH OF WATER BETWEEN GERMANY AND DENMARK...

eine andere Fähre fährt an uns vorbei...

I LOVE TAKING PICTURES AGAINST THE SUN...

HERE A SEAGULL. I WAS HOPING IT WOULD GET A LITTLE CLOSER WITHOUT DROPPING ANYTHING ON US... BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

hier kommt eine Möwe...

FOR THOSE WHO ARE A BIT MORE NERVOUS, THEY HAVE PLENTY OF LIFEBOATS, LIFERAFTS AND THAT SORT OF THING ON BOARD...

Rettungsinseln...

Springtime/Easter ¤¤¤ FRÜHLING/OSTERN

Im Garten grünt und blüht jetzt alles

THE GARTEN IS IN BLOOM

wie hier an der ältesten Scheune.

AND EVEN THE OLDEST BARN LOOKS PRETTY WITH THE PLUM TREE IN FRONT OF IT.

Selbst die Wiese blüht!

EVEN THE LAWN IS BLOOMING!

Und die Sträucher sehen wunderschön aus!

AND ALL THE BUSHES...

IT'S NICE TO HAVE SUCH A BIG GARDEN. YOU CAN TAKE A WALK OR EVEN JOGG WHILE ENJOYING THE DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE PARK LIKE TERRAIN.

WE CELEBRATED EASTER IN SPITE OF ALL THE WORK AND THE GUESTS.

AND OF COURSE WE HAD BROUGHT A NUMBER OF SPECIALITIES HOME FROM PARIS...

APART FROM EASTEREGGS, THERE WERE A LOT OF PRESENTS...

Marielyst-beach on Falster

We're off to the beach!

WIR SIND AM STRAND!

In spite of the beautiful sunshine: that's the way to dress on a danish beach right now!

SO ZIEHT MAN SICH ZU DIESER JAHRESZEIT AM DÄNISCHEN STRAND AN!

the beach at Marielyst, on the island of Falster, seems endlessly long...

DER sTRAND BEI MARIENLYST ERSCHEINT ENDLOS LANG...

no matter what they say... the water isn't really that cold...

EGAL WAS DIE ANDEREN SAGEN, DAS WASSER IST NICHT SO KALT, WIE SIE ALLE FÜRCHTEN...

however... the boys prefere to play golf...

ABER DIE JUNGENS WOLLEN LIEBER GOLF SPIELEN...

Sandvig havn ¤¤¤ the harbor of Sandvig ¤¤¤ der Hafen von Sandvig

I was trying to only show you pictures that were exclusively taken at the harbor of Sandvig, but since the PC won't work the way I would like it to work, here is another picture that hopefully should show up on the blog-list.
Although it was taken in northern Sweden, it's funny enough exactly the same way, that our bay in Sandvig looked during the ice-winter of 1996. But first things first...

Once apon a time a pretty naive young family bough a completely run down fisherman's cottage in the harbor of Sandvig, southern Denmark. It was the summer of 1995 and we had no idea what it would take to renovate that house and all the challenges that were ahead of us!

SO SAH ES 1996 IN DER BUCHT VOR SANDVIG AUS, ALS DER EIS-WINTER KAM...

Still life was just as beautiful as it was tough and the amazing surroundings made up for everything!
The picture above was taken one early morning, just outside our old home at the harbor of Sandvig, which is located in southern Denmark, just opposite the isle of Møn.

Sandvig harbor, midsummer night. It almost doesn't get dark, yet we still have about four hours of "light darkness", which can still be called night.
This picture was taken from our little rowing boat, outside our bay, just a few hundred meters from our home.

OBEN KANN MAN EIN BILD SEHEN, DAS WIR VON UNSEREM ALTEN KAHN AUS AUFGENOMMEN HABEN, NUR WENIGE HUNDERT METER VON UNSEREM EINSTIGEN ZUHAUSE ENTFERNT. ES WAR MIDSOMMERNACHT.

Sandvig harbor, winter, a look out of my office window, with the sea frozen to the horizon. It was the coldest winter of the last century, 1996. Naturally we had to run out of oil, just when the trucks couldn't get through anymore and all emergency services were uphold by the military and tanks were the only vehicles that could get through to remote places like our harbor... this condition lasted for one week and was completely unique for Denmark which normally hardly ever gets much snow!

DER KÄLTESTE WINTER DES LETZTEN JAHRHUNDERTS: 1996!

Summer evening at the harbor. This is the view I had from my PC, when I was writing my books...

EIN VERTRÄUMTER SOMMERABEND VOR UNSEREM HAUS...

Sandvig harbor early in the morning... another winter picture, but it doesn't look very cold, does it? In the background you can just about guess the isle of Møn...

DIES IST EIN SONNENAUFGANG VOR DEM HAUS IM WINTER, MIT AUSBLICK AUF MØN.

Sandvig habor, afternoon, just in front of our house...

ABSCHLIESSEND EIN FRÜHLINGSBILD, EIN NACHMITTAG AN DEM ES NOCH NICHT GANZ SO WARM WAR...

Actually, Sandvig isn't to far from our current B&B: Granborg Gaard!
However, there are more beautiful places to visit - close by!
Garnborg Gaard is about a mile from the shore, the most wonderful beach is Marienlyst.
But there are also other places where one can go swimming... one of them is the local new and very lovely swimming hall with different saunas and lots of other facilities.
They even have "candle-light-swimming evenings" and wellness arrangements...

SANVIG IS LEICHT VON UNSEREM HOF AUS ZU ERREICHEN, DOCH ES GIBT NOCH VIEL SCHÖNERE PLÄTZE IN UNSERER NÄHE! UNSER HOF LIEGT CA. EINE MEILE VOM MEER ENTFERNT. DER SCHÖNSTE STRAND IST MARIENLYST, DOCH ES SEI AUCH ZU ERWÄHNEN, DASS WIR EIN WUNDERVOLLES SCHWIMMBAD/KERZENTRUM IM ORT HABEN!
